Travel ban on ex-MP, BB deputy governor

A Dhaka court imposed a travel ban on several high-profile individuals, including Abdus Sobhan Golap, former member of parliament (MP), and Sitangshu Kumar Sur, an ex-Bangladesh Bank (BB) deputy governor, along with his wife Suparna Sur Chowdhury and their daughter Nandita Sur Chowdhury.
Ujjol Mallik, chief engineer of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha, has also been restricted from leaving the country.
Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Mohammed Ash Shams Joglul Hossain issued the travel ban, following separate requests by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Md. Akhtarul Islam, ACC deputy director, confirmed that the travel restrictions were imposed as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.
Mir Ahmad Ali Salam and Mahmood Hossain Jahangir, prosecutors, represented the ACC in the case, and after hearing the arguments, the court approved the travel ban.
