Trawler capsizes in Bay: 1 dead, 26 missing

A man died and at least 26 people went missing as a trawler capsized in the Bay of Bengal, on the outskirts of Saint Martin’s Island under Teknaf Upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Friday. The dead is Lavlu, a fisherman by profession. Port sources said, the trawler ‘FB Bandhan’ of Bengal Fisheries Limited with some 29 crew members capsized in the Bay as another trawler hit it around 5:00am while it was going into the deep sea for fishing. Being informed, Navy patrol ship ‘Samudra Joy’ rushed in and rescued two people and recovered the body of Lavlu while the others went missing. The two rescued people are: Sajib Hossain, a junior officer of the trawler, and Nasir, a crew member, according to a news agency.
