Trawler sinks in Jamuna, three missing

MANIKGANJ, Aug 28:Three people, including two children, went missing as a trawler capsized in the Jamuna River at Char Alokdia in Shivalaya upazila on Tuesday morning. Two of the deceased were identified as Nur Box, 45, of Ataikula and Megha, 7, of Sujanagar upazilas in Pabna district. The trawler with 100 passengers coming from Kajirhat in Pabna sank in the morning when a cement-laden cargo vessel coming from the opposite direction hit it while heading towards Aricha Ghat. All but three missing passengers managed to swim ashore. — UNB
