Tree fair begins in Khulna

KHULNA, June 21: The fifteen-day 'Tree Plantation Movement and Tree Fair -2015' has started at city's Jatishangho Shishu Park Saturday. Khulna district administration, Sundarban west zone and Agriculture Extension Department jointly arranged the fair.   
Divisional Commissioner Abdus Samad formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. The inaugural function was presided over by conservator of forest Khulna circle Dr. Shunil Kumar Kudu and addressed among others by Deputy Commissioner Mostofa Kamal, Deputy Director of Environment Department Dr. Malok Anwar Hossain and AED Deputy Director Abdul Latif.   
The function was attended among others DFO Zahir Uddin Ahmed and president of Nursery Owners Association Md. Badrul Alam.
A total of 42 stalls have been set up in the fair and it will remain open from 6am to 10pm. The stalls will display saplings of various flower, medicinal, timber and fruit bearing trees. Seminars and cultural functions will also be held during the fair, sources said.
