Tree fair begins in Mymensingh

MYMENSINGH, Aug 11 (BSS): A three day tree fair began on Phulbaria upazila parisad premises today with a view to plant more fruit bearing and other types of saplings to meet up the demand of nutrition and achieve economic benefit of the rural people.
Phulbaria Upazila Agriculture Office organised the tree fair. Local Member of Parliament (MP) Adv. Muslemuddin formally inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
With Upazila Nirbahi Officer Banani Biswas in the chair, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension SM Abul Hossain addressed the function as special guest.
While addressing as the chief guest, Muslemuddin said the present government is an environment-friendly government and they are working relentlessly to save the people from the adverse impacts of climate change.
He stressed the need for planting more saplings specially fruit bearing, timber and herbal trees at homesteads and open spaces for saving the country from the negative impacts of climate change and maintaining ecological balances.
