Tree plantation should be mandatory

Thursday, 31 October 2024

Tree plantation should be a proactive and essential measure for a healthier planet. In recent years, we have faced unprecedented and extreme weather due to climate change, driven by global warming. It is crucial that we, as a community, come together to plant more trees to protect ourselves against future unpredictable climate shifts. Policymakers can play a crucial role in this by establishing a framework that ensures widespread participation.
Trees are indispensable to our lives; they absorb carbon dioxide, improve air quality, reduce flood risks, create less favourable conditions for mosquitoes, and decrease greenhouse gas levels in the atmosphere. Additionally, they help cool our surroundings, making urban areas more resilient. Mandatory tree plantation can also generate job opportunities and strengthen local economies.
While many individuals may choose to plant trees voluntarily, such efforts alone will not be enough. We must take collective action not only for ourselves but also for future generations. For a sustainable future, tree plantation is not only an environmental necessity but also a means to secure a healthier planet for everyone.
