Trendy winter wedding guest looks

After one of the hottest years in history, the first winter breeze is trespassing through the slightly open windows. As winter is here, it is not a vague guess that many wedding cards must be around the house.
The wedding festivities begin as soon as winter arrives because it is usually the most suitable time for weddings- no scorching heat, no sweating, no sudden rain or storm, holidays, and just pleasant weather. Winter weddings come with their pros and cons.
For instance, the flowy sleeveless dress needs to be wrapped up in the closet as winter evenings are too chilly for them anyway, and the strappy shoes will give thy feet away with pins and needles of the winter breeze.
As a wedding guest in Bangladesh, one must dress according to the weather, which is getting increasingly unpredictable. But worry not if you are confused about what fabric to choose, what styles are trendy and what feels comfortable, and what looks to do. Here is a small ensemble of choices that shout 'chic in the chill' in winter weddings.
So, as a wedding guest - one may be the bridesmaids, the close friends of the bride or groom, or a guest at someone's wedding whom they don't know so well - there are some tips about creating a perfect ensemble keeping the weather in mind.
A suitable fabric eases the way
Choosing the right fabric is one of the most important decisions for a perfect wedding guest look. It will be a big mistake to wear the favourite Chiffon sleeveless maxi gown to an evening wedding, thinking it's a slayer. But the chill from the weather may give away the styling posture out of the cold.
Lightweight fabrics are best fitted with a heavy fabric complement on top of them, like wearing a velvet or embroidered khadi jacket on top of the chiffon, georgette or other dresses or lehenga suits. Sarees, Velvet, embroidered georgette, Khadi, Tasser, Kaatan, Banarsi- with heavy brocades may be regal choices.
If a complete velvet ensemble feels suffocating, the mix-and-match option is always available-style a velvet dress or kameez with a Banarsi Dupatta or a Kaatan lehenga with a heavy dupatta. Silk dupattas can be a slayer if styled perfectly with a gown or Anarkali.
For men, bespoke suits are the OG favourites of all time. The suits are warm and stylish, with a cotton or rayon shirt underneath. There are also options like a semi-velvet safari suit, brocade blazers, Khadi or Tussar Silk Kurta or Punjabi and many newer styles.
Style the right way
After choosing the right fabric, give a little time to the styling. There are options such as - Velvet head to toe, Embroidered Kaftan, Velvet and Banarsi, Georgette on Georgette, etc. Velvet gives off a luxurious vibe and keeps warm.
Choose a lighter fabric for daytime events, but velvet styling with other fabrics should not go wrong for evenings. Either go with a two-piece outfit or one long gown- the choice is open. Velvet is a pretty rich fabric, so even if the rest of the look is lowkey, the overall look will be on point.
The floor-length Kaftans are gaining momentum in the fashion world. They can be paired with plain Anarkali dresses. This combination can be a saviour for those who want to look elegant and sophisticated. Embellished Kaftans are available in a variety of designs and cuts. Embroidered blazers and embellished coats as part of semi-formal pantsuits are also getting popular.
Kurta sets with monochrome pajama style pants in churidar or blazers with formal pants are always a comfortable choice for men. Avoiding silk shirts underneath heavy blazers is good for an all-day comfortable ensemble.
Teenagers often get overlooked when it comes to formal occasions, mostly weddings. But with the latest trends, they can wear short shirts, tunics, maxi dresses, lehengas, embroidered or embellished pantsuits, kaftans, etc., that suit their age. The makeup should be minimal for their natural radiant skin.
Close-toed shoes are best suited for winters, loafers and formal shoes for men; khussa, close-toed heels and nagra shoes or heels are best to keep the legs warm. Teenage girls can style ballerinas with see-through glitter socks and khussa if salwar kameez or Anarkalis are the looks they are going for.
Keep the dark shades during indoor or nighttime events and wear the light or pastel hues during daytime outdoor winter weddings. If the outfit's tones are lighter, keep the makeup and accessories heavy to look wedding-appropriate. But a light, matte look will be better for daytime weddings. Winter indoor weddings require dark tones, embellished long jackets, and heavy dresses. Dark and bold colours such as black, maroon, navy blue, teal, royal green, etc., look stunning in winter.
A clean and poised look is always a charm to functions. So, grooming the face with a little self-care, moisturising, and hydration is necessary before going to a wedding. Also, winter weddings are usually a good option for expressing oneself through makeup and accessories. So, wear a red lip colour, do smokey eye makeup, and wear heavy jhumkas or even a favourite watch.
