Trial of Yusuf terminated

Wednesday, 12 February 2014

The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) has decided to terminate the trial against Jamaat-e-Islami leader AKM Yusuf due to his death. The ICT-2 headed by Justice Obaidul Hassan gave the order on Wednesday. Yousuf was admitted to the Bangabandhu Medical University (BSMMU) hospital on February 9 after he fell ill at the Kashimpur Jail. Doctors said he suffered a cardiac arrest and died at hospital around 11am the same day. The Jamaat leader was suffering from old-age complications, said his lawyer Tajul Islam. Arguments in the case were scheduled to begin Wednesday, according to a news agency.
