CHITTAGONG, Sept 29: All information regarding the under-trial cases filed with all 16 thanas in the city has been brought under the local area network (LAN).
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Mashiur Rahman Chowdhury has taken the initiative, a statement of the CMM said.
Chittagong District and Sessions Judge AKM Nasir Uddin and Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Obaidus Sobhan have formally introduced the programme while the CMM and other judges in Chittagong were present.
The list of cases and their trial dates of 18 courts including the CMM will now be available under the digital LAN network. The number of disposed of cases will also be learnt through the system as the door of the trial system in the CMM courts has now been opened, it said.
26,000 cases with 16 police stations are pending in eight courts under the CMM while records of about 1000 cases have already been included in the LAN network as the process of entry of data in nine computers of the courts started two months back.
Under the system, supply of copies of the cases under the CMM is being done digitally. The petitioner will fill up a prescribed form to get copy of a particular case and after completion of the folio assessment the petitioner will get a message on his/her mobile phone.
