Trial run on Kamlapur to Bhanga rail route Sept 7

FE REPORT | Friday, 1 September 2023

The Bangladesh Railway (BR) plans to operate a trial run from Dhaka's Kamlapur rail station to Bhanga on September 7 as part of its move to inaugurate regular train service between Dhaka and Bhanga through the Padma Bridge in the last week of September.
Officials said Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon is expected to join the trial run.
They said the inauguration date for operating the train on the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga line will be confirmed after getting the Prime Minister's schedule.
Construction of the 82-kilometre rail track from Dhaka to Bhanga through the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Project has been completed.
Sources said the much-anticipated commercial rail operation through the Padma Bridge will start with the initial target of running three up-and-down trains every day.
