Tribal leader shot dead in Rangamati

A former union parishad (UP) member and tribal leader was shot dead by some miscreants at Ramhari Para in Naniarchar Upazila in Rangamati on Sunday. The dead is Shanti Kumar Chakma, a former member of Ghilachhari UP. Locals said some miscreants called Shanti out of his home around 12:30am and shot him dead at a secluded place a little while later. The killers dumped the body of Shanti near his house and left the scene. Local people and Shanti’s family members spotted the body on Sunday morning and informed police who sent it to a local hospital for autopsy after recovery, according to a news agency.
