Friday, 5 December 2014

The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) fixed Sunday December 11 whether it would take cognisance of the charges brought against detained war crimes suspects Obaidul Haque alias Taher and Ataur Rahman alias Noni of Netrakona, reports UNB.
With the duo accused in the dock, the three-member tribunal, headed by Justice M Enayetur Rahim, fixed the date after prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal in compliance with the tribunal's order submitted the comprehensive formal charges along with the investigation report against the war crimes accused.
Police, on August 12, arrested the two war-crimes accused from Netrakona, hours after the tribunal issued warrants for their arrest following a prosecution plea.
According to the investigation agency, it found evidence against accused Taher and Noni of having involvement in crimes against humanity committed in Netrakona during the 1971 Liberation War.
