Troops pullout starts today
Wednesday, 5 November 2008
Troops will start returning to their barracks from emergency duties across the country today (Wednesday), as the Home Ministry wrote to the Armed Forces Division (AFD) Tuesday with the request. On completion of their emergency national task, the soldiers will be pulled out "gradually," said one official Tuesday evening. Another official said the Army Headquarters had already received a letter with the request for the troop pullout. On Monday, President Prof Dr Iajuddin Ahmed issued an order for the soldiers to pack their bags, as the caretaker government started off the process of holding the stalled national election in Dec. — UNB
