Truck knocks down ASI to death in city

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Khilkhet police station was killed and a constable injured as a truck knocked them down in Khilkhet Bazar area in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Al-Amin (32).
Inspector (Investigation) Ashrafuddin of Khilkhet police station said the accident took place at about 2:50 am when a speeding truck hit ASI Al-Amin and constable Shahjahan from behind while they were on duty, leaving the duo seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital.
As his condition deteriorated, Al-Amin was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead at about 3:20 am.
Police seized the truck and arrested its driver Ashraful Islam.
