Trucker, helper killed in Comilla crash

A truck driver and his assistant (helper) were killed as the vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch at Raipur under Daudkandi upazila in Comilla district on Monday. The dead are Dulal Mia, driver of the truck, and his helper Manjur. They hailed from Barisal and Bhola districts respectively. Police said the Dhaka-bound iron rod laden truck from Chittagong skidded off and fell into the ditch beside the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway around 8:30am after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving him (driver) and his helper dead on the spot. On information, police from Daudkandi highway police camp recovered the bodies and sent those to Comilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, according to UNB.
