Truckers die in Rangpur crash

Two truck drivers were killed and their two helpers injured in a road accident at Mujibnagar point on Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila in Rangpur on Sunday. Police said the accident occurred when a potato-laden Dhaka bound truck (Rangpur Da 11-0163) from Rangpur city and chicken fodder-laden Rangpur bound truck (Dhaka Metro Ta 14-7179) from Dhaka collided head-on around 4:45am. Drivers of the trucks Aminul Islam, 35, son of late Abdul Kadir of Maddhya Kumedpur village under Sadar upazila of Gaibandha and Saiful Islam, 30, son of late Mofiz Uddin of Rajnagar village under Polashbari upazila in Gaibandha were killed on the spot. Police rescued the two injured helpers of the ill-fated trucks and rushed them to a local hospital, seized both the damaged trucks, recovered the bodies and brought those to Baro Dorga Police Camp, according to BSS.
