Trust Bank to set up 30 more branches by 2011

Trust Bank Limited, a leading private commercial bank is aiming to establish 30 more branches countrywide by the year 2011, taking its total tally of branches to 69.
At the same time, the bank is looking to set up five more SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) service centres by the end of this year, the bank authorities said.
All these were revealed at the bank's annual managers' conference held in the city Thursday.
Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of TBL General Moeen U Ahmed attended the conference as the chief guest. Vice Chairman AKM Muzahid Uddin and Managing Director Iqbal U Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
Currently, the bank is working through 39 branches countrywide.
Reflecting on the bank's performance during the previous year, Moeen U Ahmed said that the last year had seen a great uplift for the bank in terms of publicity due to passport service and retail loan while the introduction of merchant banking and Islamic banking had also expanded its scope of business activities.
He also stressed the need for attaining and keeping up customer satisfaction while maintaining the necessary compliance with a view to surviving in the competitive market.
"Risk taking is the part and parcel of banking business; but we have to assume just that amount of risk which we can handle," he said.
"The previous year of 2008 was a notable one for TBL when its deposit increased by 21 per cent and the amount of loan and advances increased by 47 per cent from the preceding year," Mr Iqbal U Ahmed said.
"The bank's operating profit has risen by a robust 56.97 per cent around the same time frame while its capital base stood at Tk. 3.61 billion as on April 15, 2009," Iqbal stated.
The new SME service centres will be located in the districts of Dhaka, Gazipur, Narshingdi, Sylhet and Sirajganj, the bank authorities disclosed.
Later, the Chief of Army Staff distributed awards among branch managers of different TBL branches for their outstanding performances in different categories during the previous year.
Senior executives of the bank as well as all department heads along with all the branch managers were present on the occasion.
Established in 1999; TBL is sponsored by the Army Welfare Trust (AWT). The bank introduced ATM banking service in 2005 and moved towards online banking since the year 2007.
