Truth appears to be harsh sometimes: Quader

Thursday, 26 June 2014

Jatiya Party Presidium member GM Quader has said that he speaks the ruth although truth appears to be harsh sometimes. 'Truth appears to be harsh sometimes. That's why I don't want to speak,' Quader said following a 'brawl' with party Secretary General Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu at a function in the city. Quader, also a former minister, came down heavily on the JP MPs who are holding portfolios in the Cabinet. The hot exchange between the two JP leaders came after Bablu reacted angrily to a statement by Quader. Bablu walked out of the function held at the Diploma Engineers Institute, after Quader, brother of JP Chairman HM Ershad, made the critical remark. Ershad was present at the function organised by the Jatiya Motsyajibi Party, a Jatiya Party affiliate. Quader and Bablu sat on either side of the party chief on the dais. This was the first time Quader attended an open party programme. Speaking at the function, he said: “Jatiya Party is a gazetted opposition party. If (Jatiya Party) is an opposition party, it has to be the real opposition party. It’s not possible for a party to play the role of a real opposition party while being in the government.” Bablu reacted instantly. “Is it a statement?” he asked, and walked off from the dais even as JP Presidium member SM Foysal Chisti tried to stop him. After Bablu left, Quader lamented: 'Truth appears to be harsh sometimes. That’s why I don’t want to speak...,” according to a news agency.
