TSH provides laser treatment to diabetic patients

RANGPUR, Nov 10 (BSS): Thakurgaon Swasthoseba Hospital (TSH) has been providing general and specialized eye treatments using laser facilities to diabetic retinopathy patients at minimum costs to prevent blindness. "Beginning from 2008, we have conducted operations and provided laser treatments through our specialists to 2,460 eye patients so far," executive director of the TSH Dr AKM Ekramul Hossain Swapan said. The TSH has been providing world class eye treatments using the latest technology and equipment at lower costs to the people with the assistance of Bangladesh Diabetic Samity (BADAS) and ORBIS International, he said. Side by side with, the TSH has been providing general and specialised treatments and conducting pathological tests and operations of other diseases with the assistance of The Nederlands and BADAS. Talking to BSS, consultant of BADAS-ORBIS Eye Care Project of TSH Dr SK Abdul Hannan narrated the available treatments, tests and diagnosis facilities of various eye diseases including diabetic retinopathy in Thakurgaon. "We are providing treatments to the eye patients, conducting various operations and treating diabetic retinopathy using laser facilities to prevent blindness by stopping retinal bleeding being caused by uncontrolled diabetic," he said. Rangpur Divisional Director (Health) Dr Shahadat Hossain told BSS that TSH provides world class latest treatments using laser rays and sophisticated equipment to diabetic retinopathy patients in the country after Dhaka, Chittagong and Bogra. The TSH has ushered in new hopes for the patients by providing multidimensional and sophisticated treatments to the people in different fields including eye diseases with their experts and specialists, he said.
