Friday, 14 November 2008
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga notched up his first Masters Cup victory with a battling 1-6 7-5 6-1 win over Novak Djokovic, BBC reports.
With Tsonga eliminated after losing his first two Gold Group matches and the Serb already into the semis the Shanghai contest was a dead rubber.
But both players showed no let up and Tsonga edged the contest with some aggressive play in the third set to end Djokovic's 100 per cent record in Shanghai.
Nikolay Davydenko and Juan Martin del Potro meet in the decisive group game.
