TT, Badminton promise of improved performance

Table Tennis and Badminton team promise of a better result in their respective team events on the second day of the team declaration of the 11th SA Games at the BOA House in the city, reports BSS.
General Manager of the Bangladesh contingent of the SA Games Ms Mahfuza Akhter Kiron was present on the occasion.
ATM Shamsul Alam the General Secretary of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation expressed hope of winning the silver medal of the men's team event as well as the bronze of the women's team event. " You know that the standard of the Indian paddlers are far ahead of us, we have concentrated upon the realistic chances of hope of facing lesser caliber than Indians to brighten our medal prospects,' said Alam.
He however pin pointed the progress with the result of the last Asian TT Championship where Bangladesh finished 16th with wins against Nepal, Laos and Jordan.
'Sri Lanka was placed 15th and Pakistan finished 12th, so the standards are almost the same, we have beaten Nepal, so we have a realistic chance of earning the Silver in the team event,' hoped Alam.
Chinese coach Sun Yi said he had emphasized upon the skills and the players have shown improvement.

Men- Manash Chowdhury, Hanif Hamlet, Khandoker Al Mahbub Billah, Khandoker Al Mustafa Billah, Goutam Kumar Das.
Women- Sonam Sultana Shoma, Saleha Parvin Setu, Moumita Alam Rumy, Jayati Datta, Rahima Akhter.
The same expectation was echoed by the Badminton team. Hoping that they do not meet Indian shuttlers in the first phase they then have the opportunity of silver in team events of both male and female events.
Jubaidur Rahman Rana the General Secretary of the Badminton Federation said with the nine months' training behind the shuttlers have chance to excel. The Malaysian coach Chew Ming Yao Alvin voiced the progress among his trainees. 'They are physically fitter and technically better now, I found them in a far weaker position when we started the training,' said Alvin.
