FE Report
State Minister for Power Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, has urged officials to urgently prepare plans to improve the country's fragile power management system.
He asked the officials of Power Development Board (PDB) to search for alternative energy sources to overcome existing power crisis, innovate and implement more effective ways to save power, overhaul old power plants, set up new plants and reduce system losses.
"We have to work together to remove all barriers that are choking the power sector," he said pointing to the lack of coordination in the sector, while speaking at a meeting with senior officials of PDB at the WAPDA Bhaban in the city Sunday, says a press release.
The minister also asked them to work sincerely to improve the power situation of the country.
PDB Chairman ASM Alamgir Kabir said the number of power generation units aged between 20 and 45 years now stands at 40, which are responsible for generating 1040 megawatt of electricity, he said.
The state minister directed his ministry officials to take steps to fill the vacant posts of PDB for taking forward the power sector.
