FE Report
A new trade body named Turkey-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TBCCI) has been launched at a function in the city aiming to promote commercial, economic and social relations between the two friendly countries.
"I am hopeful that the TBCCI will help increase the volume of trade up to the expected level," Ferit Ergin, Turkish ambassador to Bangladesh, said while speaking at the launching ceremony of the chamber at a city hotel Wednesday.
He further said: "I am happy, albeit to a certain extent, with the volume of two-way trade between Turkey and Bangladesh, but I must also say that I am not satisfied. Because, this volume is way below the potential that exists."
He, however, said, "I am fully confident that the office-bearers of the chamber will do their best to raise the volume of bilateral trade."
The launching ceremony was also attended, among others, by acting foreign secretary Touhid Hossain, board of investment (BOI) executive chairman Md Nazrul Islam and International Chamber of Commerce-Bangladesh (ICC-B) president Mahbubur Rahman.
Fikret Cicek, president of the TBCCI, said: "We are optimistic about enhancing the solidarity, the volume of bilateral trade and economic cooperation."
The office-bearers of the trade body are Fikret Cicek, president, AKM Rafiquddin, vice president, Mehmet Sahin, secretary general, Sedat Tapkan, treasurer, while Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Salahuddin Kasem Khan, Manzur-ur-Rahman (Ruskin), Bayran Saatci and Mohammad Abu Yousuf Ali Bhuyian are its members.
