Tutor rapes second grader

A child from second grade is struggling to recuperate after being raped by her tutor in Barisal district. She was admitted to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in a critical state on Saturday. 'We found evidence that suggested she had been violated, and took her to the OCC (Outpatient Care Center), said Doctor Habibur Rahman of emergency unit of BSBMCH. The child's aunt said both her parents work abroad and she stays with her grandmother in a village in Muladi Upazila, studying in a local primary school. 'Jewel', the son of Tofael Bepari, had been engaged as her tutor three months ago, she said. He came to the house at around 4:00pm on Friday, when no one was at home. He gagged the child before raping her, said her aunt. The girl, about seven years old, was found lying unconscious on the floor. She was rushed to Muladi Health Complex where her condition began to deteriorate. She was transferred to the BSBMCH late at night and admitted to the children's ward. Police SI Md Selim, in charge of the OCC, confirmed her admission. Muladi Police sent a force to investigate the matter at 4:00pm Saturday, said OC Alauddin Milon.
