TV journalism training certificates awarded

Certificates and crests were awarded to participants of the Fair & Lovely Foundation Television Journalism Training 2009 at a ceremony held in the city Saturday evening.
Bangladesh Centre for Development, Journalism and Communications (BCDJC) and the Television and Radio Training Institute (TVRTI) organised the training in association with Unilever's social arm Fair & Lovely Foundation from April 30 to June 4, 2009.
Local journalists Muhammad Jahangir, Shykh Siraz, Kawsar Mahmud, Ja E Mamun, Ahmed Jobaer, Shahanaj Munni and Indian journalist Nupur Basu were among the trainers.
A total of 21 girls had been chosen for the six-week training aiming to provide women space in the media.
"No country can develop without empowerment of women," said Advocate Sultana Kamal, former advisor to caretaker government, while speaking as the chief guest at the function.
Renowned novelist Selina Hossain and Adcom. chairman and former adviser to caretaker government Gitiara Shafia Chowdhury were also present.
Selina Hossain speaking at the function emphasised on women's education and professionalism.
"Time has come to recognise women's power," said Gitiara Shafia Chowdhury.
Programe coordinator and project director journalist Naimul Islam Khan, who is also president of BCDJC, also attended the ceremony.
