Twin-bourse tumbles: Low turnover at DSE, CSE

The country's twin-bourse – Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – witnessed downward trend in early hour of trading on Wednesday, maintaining the previous day’s negative trend.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 10.70 points or 0.23 per cent to 4,578.62, after the first 30 minutes of the trade when the report was filed at 11am. The two other indices also saw downturn. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 4.15 points or 0.24 per cent to 1,731.54. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 3.82 points or 0.34 per cent to stand at 1,097.79 points. DSE turnover stood at only Tk374 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 60 advanced, 114 declined and 42 remained unchanged.
Singer BD was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk58 million changing hands following its 40 per cent interim cash dividend. It was followed by KDS Accessories, C&A Textile, Lafarge Surma Cement and Far Chemical.
The port city bourse – CSE – also saw downturn in early hour with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – shedding 22.58 points to 8,507.60, also at 11am.
Of the issues traded till then, 21 gained, 53 declined and 13 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk31 million.
