Two army men die, 14 injured in road accident

Two army men were killed and 14 other troops were injured in a road accident in Mirzapur upazila on Dhaka-Tangail highway Saturday, police and witnesses said. Mirzapur police chief Badrul Alam said the accident had occurred when a bus carrying the army members slammed into a truck. As many as 207 army members were travelling to Dhaka on six buses of Keya Paribahan, en route to the Ivory Coast to join a UN peacekeeping mission there. The army members were scheduled to fly to the West African country on Oct 6. The dead were identified as Mohammad Ali, 35, of Alipur village in Kalihati upazila of Tangail and Zainal Abedin, 30, of West Lalpur village in Senbag in Noakhali. Updates with more details
