Two arrested in Habiganj

Habiganj, Nov 15 (BSS): Police arrested two persons- Jamal Miah, 40 and Mujibur Raman, 39, from Land Acquisition Department of Habiganj DC office on Monday when they went there to collect the cheque for Taka 2m giving false identity. Mahmudul Haque, Officer of Land Acquisition (LA) Department of Habiganj DC Office said they were distributing cheque to the affected people, whose land was acquired for Bibiana gas field. Jamal Miah of Ekterpur village and Mujibur Rahman of Aushkandi village of Nabiganj Upazila went to LA Department of Habiganj DC Office to collect the cheque of Taka 2m giving false identity as two brothers. Officer of Land Acquisition Department of Habiganj DC office Mahmudul Haque suspected their behaviour and detained them and later handed over to Habiganj Model Thana police. SI of Habiganj Sadar Model Thana Amrita Dev confirmed the incident and said they went to Habiganj Land Acquisition Office to collect the cheque for Taka 2m giving false identity as two brothers.
