Two arrested while trying to swindle money

RAJSHAHI, Jan 20: Members of RAB-5, Rajshahi arrested two swindlers while they lured a subscriber of Grameen phone offering a Pajero Jeep he got as prize and demanded Tk 20,000 to prepare formalities of handing over the jeep to him.
The arrested persons have been identified as Abdul Mannan (50) son of late Felu Kha of village Panchchar under Shibchar thana of Madaripur district (present address Seroil under Boalia thana of Rajshahi) and Mahbubur Rahman (30), son of late Khalilur Rahman of village Mungli under Charghat thana of Rajshahi district.
According to RAB sources, on January 19, a call from number 01734919298 informed Mohsin of village Jatrapur under Ashuganj thana of Brahmanbaria district at his phone number 01741624236 that he has won a Pajero Jeep as prize from Grameen Phone company and he is required to send Tk 20,000 to one Abul Hasan (mobile no: 01937415227) at Sunderban Courier Service, Shaheb Bazar branch of Rajshahi to receive the prize.
Accordingly, Mohsin sent Tk 10,000 at the above address through Sunderban (TT Number BBA 0010242) courier service the same day and the rest of money he assured to send on 20 January. He also informed the incident to the RAB immediately.
Being informed, members of RAB-5, Rajshahi Railway colony camp around 1-30 am Wednesday went to the Sunderban courier service in disguise and arrested Mannan from the courier service counter while he tried to draw the money. According to his confessional statement, RAB also arrested swindler Mahbubur Rahman from zero point of Shaheb Bazar.
A case has been filed with Boalia thana in this connection.
