Two Bangladeshis died in Bahrain as anti-government protestors drove a truck on them, reports bdnews24.com.
An official at the Bangladesh embassy in Manama Wednesday said Bangladeshi workers Abdul Hannan and Md. Aklas met the tragic end of their lives while returning to their camp from their workplace Tuesday.
"The dead bodies are still there at the morgue of Solemania Hospital in Manama," First Secretary of Bangladesh embassy in Bahrain Muhammad Ibrahim told the news agency over phone.
Ibrahim said their camp is located at Sitara, 20 km from Manama. They worked as carpenter and mason, he said.
According to him, a police officer was also killed in the incident.
"Bahraini TV footage showed the bodies as their Bangladeshi fellowmen identified them," Ibrahim said.
We're facing problems in sending back the bodies as the government declared a state of emergency Tuesday," Ibrahim said.
"The hospitals are controlled by the military and they've told us to contact them when the situation will return to normal," he added.
Asked about the security of other Bangladeshis, he said so far the embassy does not know any other casualty news.
"But we received a phone call today (Wednesday) that protestors threw brickbats at a labour camp at Maneer, 30km from Manama, where five Bangladeshis and 25 Indian workers live," he said adding, "We've immediately contacted the police and they sent a team over there."
