Two brothers sentenced to death in Khulna

KHULNA, Nov 16: Additional District and Session Judge Court- 3 Tuesday sentenced two brothers to death and their wives to life imprisonment in a farmer' murder case. The judge also fined both wives Tk. 10,000 each and in default, to suffer one year more in jail.
The convicts are Daud Molla, Shamsher Molla and their wives Rahela Bibi and Parvin respectively of village Baduria under Dumuria thana of the district.
According to the prosecution, Abdur Razzak Molla was going to a nearby grocery shop from his house on August 22, 2005 when his two cousins Daud Molla and Shamsher Molla attacked him for previous enmity. They beat him indiscriminately with lethal weapons. Their wives also helped them during the attack. Later Abdur Razzak was rushed to Dumuria Upazila Health Complex where the doctor pronounced him dead. The deceased's wife Halima Khatun filed a case accusing above four persons with Dumuria thana.
After examining the records and witnesses, the judge Abdul Mannan pronounced the verdict.
Dog squad at
border planned
Dog squad will be used in Satkhira border area from Thursday to protect illegal drugs trading in the border areas said commander of 41 Battalian of Satkhira BGB Lt. Col Enayet Karim while exchanging views with the journalists at it headquarters.
The meeting was attended among others Major Harun-ur-Rashid, Major Moniruzzaman , Major Azad and high officials of BGB.
The meeting disclosed that the BGB members destroyed 18 illegal phensidyl factories with the help of BSF in the border areas. They also seized 4 tonnes of garlic while being trafficked to India and 40 thousand bottles of phensidyl and 90 pieces of cattle hides recently.
Another messages add: BGB members seized 24 bags of garlic worth about Tk. 0.016 million from Townsreepur under Debhata Upzila of Satkhira district on Tuesday night.

120 injured in clashes

GOPALGANJ, Nov 16: About 100 villagers were injured, 30 of them critically, in a clash over control of Bongram Bazar among the people of four villages of Muksudpur in Gopalganj Tuesday.
They used country-made weapons like Lathis, Sorki, Dal, Katra, Ramdao etc.
While the clash turned serious both group set fire on about 10 houses. The clash continued for five hours.
Two separate cases were filed with Muksud Police Station (PS) in this connection.
Netrokona
UNB reports: At least 10 people were injured in a fierce clash between two groups of villagers at Makhna village in Madan upazila in Netrokona on Tuesday morning.
Local people said when Shafiqul of the village went to cut grass for his cow co-villager Sequl following a previous enmity beat him early in the morning.
Later, following the incident supporters of Shafiqul and Sequl equipped with lethal weapons and sticks attacked each other leaving 10 people injured from both sides.
Of the injured Makhon, student Asadul, Shafiqul, Harun Mia and Milon Mia were admitted to the upazila health complex while others were released after first aid.
Luxmipur
Another UNB report says: At least 10 people were injured in an attack by rival group at Kanchani bazaar in Sadar upazila in Laxipur on Tuesday.
Quoting local sources, police said Raquib, son of Jasor Ullah of the village took the motorbike of his neighbor Foiz to attend a marriage ceremony in the morning.
But on the way following an accident the bike damaged extensively. Later, an altercation ensued when Foiz demanded compensation from Raquib.
