Two burned to death in Jamalpur fire

A woman and her grand daughter were burned to death as a fire broke out in their house in Dewanganj upazila in Jamalpur district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Jarina Begum, 60, and her grand daughter Sabina Yasmin, 10, of Tilakpur village. Police said the fire broke out in the kitchen of Afsar Ali’s house at Tilakpur village around 1:00am. Jarina Begum and Sabina were trapped in a room when the fire broke out and engulfed other rooms. Later, their charred bodies were recovered from the house. Five other inmates of the house – Jarina’s husband Afsar Ali, Jaru Sheikh, Suruj Miah, Asheka Begun and Abdus Salam – also sustained burn injuries. Local people doused the fire. Dewanganj upazila chairman Abul Kalam Azad visited the spot, according to UNB.
