Two buses collide head-on: 20 die in Daudkandi

At least 20 people died in a road crash Monday morning involving two buses colliding head-on at Eliotganj near Daudkandi in Comilla on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, reports bdnews24.com.
Daudkandi police chief Abdur Rab told the news agency that a Dhaka-bound Starline Transport Company coach traveling from Feni rammed into a Comilla-bound minibus coming from Homna, veering from the road to hit roadside trees before crashing into a ditch.
Identities of six of the deceased could be ascertained, the Starline bus driver Nayan (38), Salma (35), Nasir (42), Akbar Hossain (30), Alam (38) and Mannan (19), the police chief said.
The bus was recovered with no bodies remaining inside, he said. Most of the injured 15 were admitted to Gouripur Hospital, others were sent to Dhaka.
