Two cases filed against UP chairman, four others

SATKHIRA, Dec 15 (UNB): Two separate cases were filed against five people, including a Union Parishad (UP) Chairman, with Kolaroa thana Friday on charge of selling VGF rice on the black market.
Kolaroa Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mir Morshed Rana filed the cases against Keragachhi UP Chairman Abdul Gafur, UP Member Faruq Hossain and rice traders Anwarul Islam, Hasina Begum and Babar Ali.
According to the complaint, distribution of rice under the VGF programme started in Keragachhi Union few days back but each card holder received two to three kilogrammes (kgs) of rice less than the fixed quantity.
Later, 241 kgs of VGF rice were recovered from the shop of Anwarul Islam of Boalia village and 100 kgs of rice from the house of Hasina Begum of Baliadanga village.
