Two cops suspended for mistakenly firing in C'nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 6 (UNB): Two police personnel were suspended and closed Friday for careless handling of firearms that resulted in accidental firing of 12 rounds of bullet from an SMG while on duty on Nachol Upazila Parishad premises.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nachol thana Fazlur Rahman said a team of police was put on duty on the Upazila Parishad premises following Wednesday's farmer unrest.
During the duty Friday morning, Reserve Force Habildar Abdul Mukit went out to respond to nature's call keeping his Sub-Machine Gun (SMG) with his colleague Abdul Awal, a constable of Nachol thana.
At one stage, 12 rounds of bullet were fired accidentally from the SMG. Police Super Moklesur Rahman told the news agency that the police team was withdrawn from the Upazila Parishad premises and the two police personnel-Mukit and Awal-were suspended and closed following the incident.
