Two Covid, three dengue patients die in 24 hrs

Two more Covid-19 patients died while three others died of dengue in the last 24 hours until Monday morning, reports UNB.
A total of 696 Covid-19 cases were detected in the same period.
With the new numbers, the country's total fatalities rose to 29,371 while the total caseload to 2,026,908, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Both the latest deceased were men from Dhaka and Sylhet divisions.
The daily case test positivity rate declined to 12 per cent from Sunday's 14. 35 per cent as 5,801 samples were tested.
The mortality rate and recovery rate remain unchanged at 1.45 per cent and 97.03per cent, respectively.
In September, the country reported 40 Covid-linked deaths and 13,251 cases.
Bangladesh registered its highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year and daily fatalities of 264 on August 10 the same year.
Meanwhile, three more dengue patients died in 24 hours until Monday morning, raising this year's death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 61.
During this period, 525 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever as cases have continued to increase, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths were reported from Dhaka and Chattogram divisions. The dengue death toll in Barishal division remains unchanged at 5.
Of the new patients, 352 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 173 outside it.
A total of 2,144 dengue patients, including 1,598 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
On June 21, the DGHS reported the first death of the season from the viral disease.
This year, the directorate has recorded 17,820 dengue cases and 15,615 recoveries so far.
