CHITTAGONG, Dec 13: A two-day Malaysian Show started today in the port city's Hotel Peninsula. Malaysian Healthcare Services Ltd and Malaysian Healthcare Travel Council have jointly organised the show.
City Mayor M Manjur Alam formally opened the show as the chief guest. Malaysian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Binoti Othman, professor of Chittagong Medical College Selim Md Jahangir and BMA president Mujibul Hoque Khan were present as special guests.
The city mayor said Bangladesh and Malaysia have a very nice cultural and economic relation for a long time. The present show will further accelerate that relation.
The Malaysian High Commissioner said Chittagong is her favourite city. She is happy to have attended the event in the port city. Such cooperative shows will also be organised in future, she assured.
Dr Selim Jahangir said Malaysia is a good friend of Bangladesh. A good number of foreign students are studying in Chittagong Medical College but the Malaysian students are the highest among them as the medical education in the Chittagong Medical College is of high standard.
Chittagong Medical College Hospital is the only medical college in Bangladesh where open heart surgery is being done and 99 per cent of these cases have been successful, he said.
The show is open for all from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and it will end at 7:00 pm on Sunday.
