Two DCC cleaners die from suffocation

Two young cleaners of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) died from suffocation caused by poisonous gas inside a manhole at Lalbagh in the city Friday. Witnesses said the DCC cleaners Babu (28) and Bhasani (30) entered into a drain through a manhole at Azimpur Chhapra Mosque at about 10:00am to clean it. As the workers did not respond to calls from fellow workers, fire fighters were called in for their rescue. They rushed to the spot and recovered their bodies from the manhole. Lalbagh police said they sent the bodies to DMCH morgue for autopsy.
