Two die as pickup van hits them during AL factional clash in city

Two persons were killed as they were hit by a pickup van after the victims got stuck in an infighting of ruling Awami League in the capital's Mohammadpur police station area on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Arif and Sujon aged between 14 to 18 years respectively, said police sources adding,that they got stuck in the political demonstration.
Officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station Jamal Uddin Mir confirmed the incident of deaths.
He said police immediately could not confirm whether the victims took part in the political demonstration or had any political involvement, and how they met the fatal incident.
According to eye- witnesses, the victims were first hit by a pickup van and then rushed to a nearby hospital where on-duty doctors declared them as dead, said the police official.
On Saturday morning the followers of AL leaders Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Sadeq Khan locked into an internal clash near Mohammadpur area.
The infighting ensued as a motorbike rally marched towards the AL Dhanmondi office to collect nomination form in favour of Sadek Khan for Dhaka -13 constituency.
It was the first factional clash of a political party claiming two lives after the announcement of the election schedule by the election commission on November 09.
