Two die in Bailey Road building fire

At least two persons perished in a deadly fire that broke out on Thursday night in a six-storey building housing several restaurants at Bailey Road in Dhaka, according to TV reports.
Around 66 people were rescued alive and at least 12 people were rushed to hospital for treatment. The rescue operation was going on till filing this report at 12:30 am on Friday.
Anwarul Islam, a spokesman for the Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire started at the Kacchi Bhai restaurant on the first floor in the building at around 9:30 pm. On information, eight firefighting units from several stations rushed to the spot. Later, four more units joined them. The origin of the fire could not be known immediately.
Many people got trapped inside the building and the firemen rescued many of them using cranes and ladders.
The firefighters brought the blaze under control around 11:50pm.
