Two engineers of R&H arrested on charge of bribery

BOGRA, June 4 (UNB): RAB arrested two engineers of Roads and Highways Department here Tuesday on charge of taking bribe worth Tk 100,000 from a contractor.
The arrestees were identified as superintending engineer (SE) of Bogra Workshop Circle of the R&H Department M Fazlur Rahman and sub-assistant engineer Sirajul Islam.
RAB sources said contractor Sirajul Islam promised the two engineers to give Tk 150,000 as they helped him to get a work order involving Tk 1.15 million for repairing three road rollers in Natore and a vibrator machine in Bogra. He gave them Tk 50,000 a few days back.
RAB members caught sub assistant engineer Sirajul Islam red-handed while he was taking the rest amount Tk 100,000 from the contractor Tuesday.
Following Sirajul Islam's written statement that he took the money for Fazlur Rahman RAB members also arrested him.
RAB personnel later handed them over to Sadar police station at night.
