Two goats on sale for Tk 0.2m!

RAJSHAHI, June 11: The asking price for a pair of goats named 'Tiger and Laltu' 0.2 million (2 lakh) at city market in Rajshahi city, as cattle sales have gained momentum across the country ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
Faridul Islam, a farmer of Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon, came to sell the giant goats in this market. The weight of the cow-like goats is about four maunds.
During a visit to the market, this correspondent has found that Tiger and Laltu are very large in size. The seller was asking for Tk 0.1 million (1 lakh) for each of the goats. But till now, Tk 0.13 million (1.30 lakh) was offered for the two goats.
Buyers and traders are gathering to see Tiger and Laltu in the market. Many are also taking selfies with the two goats. However, Tiger and Laltu were unsold due to the sky-high price.
Faridul Islam, owner of Tiger and Laltu that two white-red mixed goats have been reared home. So, his family affectionately calls the goats Tiger and Laltu. "I want to sell two goats for Tk 0.18 million (1.80 lakh)."
If the price of Tiger was asked for Tk 100,000 individually, the price went up to Tk 70,000 and the price of Laltu went up to Tk 60,000 when asked for Tk 90,000, he also said.
Goat dealer Majidur Rahman said, "I've come here to buy the two goats. So, I offered Tk 70,000 for Tiger and Tk 60,000 for Laltu. But, the seller was not agreed to sell them at the prices.
Nizamul Haque, who came to the market, is taking pictures standing next to Tiger and Laltu.
"I have never seen such a big goat in the market. So, I took a picture with it. Although I am interested, I cannot take it because the price is too high."
Atiqur Rahman Kalu, the lessee of the city pashuhat, said since Eid-ul-Azha is approaching, buying and selling have started to gain momentum.
However, due to the increase in the price of fodder, the cost of rearing animals was also high. As a result, the price of animals is being increased. As a result, most of the people are inclined towards buying goats.
However, the price of goats is higher than last year. Goats are available from Tk 10,000 to Tk 10,000 in the city pashuhat.
According to the Department of Livestock, 466,196 animals are ready for sacrifice in Rajshahi this year. These animals have been reared in 17,500 farms and different homes in the district.
Among them, 83,365 are cows, 3,769 buffaloes and 342,753 goats. Last year, 324,977 animals were sacrificed in the district. This time there is a demand for this number of sacrificial animals.
As a result, there are more than 141,219 sacrificial animals compared to the demand in the district.
