Two held with $60,000 in Ctg

CHITTAGONG, Oct 5 (UNB): Two people were held with US$60,000 from near Shah Amanat International Airport here today (Friday). The two arrested were identified as Iqbal Mohammad Mizan and car driver Mohammad Shafi. Police said a Bangladeshi expatriate Mohammad Mohsin, hailing from Raozan, arrived at the airport by Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Dubai at about 1:45 pm. After customs check, Mohsin handed over the illegal dollars to Mizan and left the airport. Mizan along with the dollars was going towards city in a car when coastguard members intercepted the car 200 yards off the airport and held Mizan and car driver Shafi with the dollars. Later, the two men along with the foreign currency were handed over to Patenga police. A case has been filed in this connection. — UNB
