Monday, 3 November 2008

Abducted BRAC officials Akhtar Ali and Shajahan Ali were freed unconditionally by their abductors Saturday. They arrived at the BRAC headquarters in Kabul Sunday, reports UNB.
The two BRAC officials were abducted from Ghazni city on October 23. Director of BRAC Media Communication Anwarul Haq told the news agency that Akhtar Ali and Shajahan Ali arrived at the BRAC Headquarters at 11:00 am (BST). They will be flown back to Dhaka shortly, he said.
Earlier, Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury urged the Afghan authorities to make all out efforts to rescue the two kidnapped Bangladeshi officials.
The Adviser had also appealed to the abductors to release the innocent officials, who were engaged in development works for the Afghan people and not connected with anything else.
