Two killed as tremor rocks country again

Another tremor rocked Bangladesh on Sunday just a day after a devastating earthquake that killed more than 2,300 people and affected about 6.6 million others in Nepal.
Until filing this story at 10:00 pm two people died, one each in Sherpur and Gaibandha in the quake that struck on Sunday.
The jolt was felt at 1:12pm in the country, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD). The earthquake measuring 6.6 on Richter scale also jolted Nepal and it was felt in Bangladesh also, said A K Mollik, a meteorologist at the BMD.
According to the US Geological Survey, the epicentre of the earthquake was at around 150 kilometres south of Kodari in Nepal - 612 kilometres from Bangladesh.
After the tremor, a number of high-rise buildings in the city, including Orchard Point at Dhanmondi and a six-story building adjacent to Younos Centre at Motijheel, either tilted or developed cracks in their walls.
During the earthquake, a number of city dwellers rushed out to the streets from their residences and offices out of panic.
About 50 garment workers were injured at the Stirling Garments Ltd at Ashulia trying to get out of the factory in panic. Some of them were admitted to hospitals and released later after first aid.
