Two killed in city Rab \\\'encounter\\\'

Two alleged criminals were killed reportedly in an encounter with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in the city's Banasree area early on Sunday. Officer-in-charge of Rampura Police Station Mahbub Alam Tarafdar told the news agency that the incident took place near the Banasree Ideal School and College in the early hours. Members of Rab-3 who set up a check-post near the school gave a signal to a moving private car to halt, but the 'miscreants' fired shots at the elite force members, triggering a gunfight there, the OC said. Later, the Rab members found two 'criminals' wounded with bullets on the spot. They were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced them dead, the OC said quoting Rab officials.    — UNB
