Two killed in gunfight with cops in Ctg, M\\\'singh

CHITTAGONG, Feb 15 (Agencies): Two bandits were killed and four received bullet wounds in gun fight with law enforcers in Chittagong and Mymensingh Saturday night and Sunday.
In Chittagong, a suspected criminal was killed and his four associates received bullet wounds in police firing at Nunachhara under Sitakunda Upazila Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Arif while the injured were Rubel, Sohel, Nurul Hadi and Parvez.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sitakunda thana Iftekhar Hasan said a gang of criminals attacked a patrol vehicle of police by hurling three crude bombs on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in the area at about 9:30 pm and the law enforcers also opened gunshots in retaliation.
Later, police arrested five members of the gang with bullet injuries while their other associates managed to flee from the spot.
The five injured criminals were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital under police custody where Arif succumbed to his injures at about 11:30 pm.
Police also recovered 10 crude bombs, 2 Molotov cocktails, one light gun and three rounds of bullet from the spot.
In Mymensingh, a suspected mugger was killed in a fight between his cohorts and police at Padri Mission Road area of the district town Sunday.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
A group of muggers stabbed a local businessman when he was returning home from his lathe machine workshop at around 3:00 am, leaving him injured, said Abu Muhammad Fazlul Karim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Model thana.
