Two killed in Pabna, Comilla gunfights

Two people were killed in gunfights with law enforces in Pabna and Comilla districts early on Thursday. In Pabna one person was killed in a gunfight between his cohorts and police at Gokulnagar on the Ishwardi-Rajshahi Highway in Ishwardi upazila early in the morning. The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain, 27, son of Mamtaj Malitha, a resident of the village. Biman Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Ishwardi Police Station, said a gang of muggers snatched away valuables from passengers of vehicles at gunpoint on the highway beside the Raju Cinema Hall at about 2:30 am. Police conducted a drive in the area in a bid to arrest them leading to the gunfight leaving him dead. In Comilla Azad Khan, 23, a resident of the city's Ashoktala, was killed in a gunfight with the Detective Branch (DB) of police in Alekharchar of Sadar upazila early in the morning.    — UNB
