Two killed in Rangpur incidents

RANGPUR, June 1: A housewife was slaughtered by her husband over family feud at Hazipur Kutirpara village under Ramnathpur union at Badarganj upazila in Rangpur district early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Arifa Begum (26), mother of two children and wife of Mizanur Rahman of the village. According locals Mizanur, son of Abdus Sobhan of the village got married to Arifa  Begum, daughter of Mohir Uddin, a resident of Dangapara village under the upazila  eight year back. After their marriage Mizanur often used to torture her over trivial family matter.
Quoting the locals police said they the couple locked into an altercation over a family matter early today at around 4.30 am. At one stage, Mizanur slaughtered Arifa with a sharp weapon, leaving her dead on the spot.
Being informed by local people, police recovered the body in the morning and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Later, the killer husband surrendered to the police in the morning.
In another incident, police recovered the body of an auto-rickshaw driver at Ganjipur area in Rangpur Sadar upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Dulal Mia (32), son of Fazal Rahman of Hasna Bazar area under Rangpur city.
According to family sources Dulal along with his auto- rickshaw went missing on May 22. Later, locals found his decomposed body in a paddy field of the area this morning and informed the police. On information police rushed to spot, recovered the body and sent it to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Miscreants might   have snatched away his auto- rickshaw after killing him with a sharp weapon, police said.
