Two lynched in Dhaka, Gazipur

Two alleged criminals have died and six have been injured in mob beatings, in two separate incidents across the country. Mob beating killed one and injured six in Abdullahpur area of South Keraniganj in the capital. The seven were allegedly among a group of 20/25 men who gathered around 12.30am Friday for an attempted robbery, at the Palashpur Ferry Ghat area of Abdullahpur, police said. South Keraniganj thana Officer-in-Charge Abul Bashar said, "The locals became suspicious and made an announcement over the loudspeaker of a local mosque about the robbers. "The locals then caught and beat up seven of them," he said. The deceased was identified as Arju (30). In another incident a snatcher was killed in a mob beating after robbing a man in Tongi of Gazipur, on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Rubel Khan. Rubel and his associates robbed one Masud (35), at the Varan area of Tongi around 9:45pm Thursday. "Masud was stabbed when he tried to grab one of them. Hearing his cries, locals came up and captured Rubel. The others fled," Tongi thana sub-inspector Ruhul Amin said.
